About Measurement Specialties

Measurement Specialties is a global designer and manufacturer of sensors and sensor-based systems which measure pressure/force, position, vibration, temperature, humidity, and fluid properties. Our products are used as embedded devices by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) or as stand alone sensors for test and measurement to provide critical monitoring, feedback and control input. We are at the heart of many everyday products and provide a vital link to the physical world.

Measurement Specialties is an applications company and we understand that embedded solutions often require customized designs. Our portfolio includes technologies capable of measuring most physical characteristics and allows us to design the right sensor for the application. Physical property, electrical input/output and package configuration are all important considerations when developing products to meet our customers’ needs.

The Hampton site has over 120 employees dedicated to manufacturing, R&D, design, application engineering support, sales, marketing and customer support for Position, Vibration and Piezo lines of products. Additionally, the site is responsible for all North American and Corporate Accounting functions.

We continue to expand our technology portfolio and geographic reach through the acquisition of strategically complimentary companies. Our operations in the US, Europe and China provide resources close to our customers. This global footprint allows us to offer the lowest cost of ownership to OEMs.

Measurement Specialties (China) Ltd. (MEAS-China) has been located in Shenzhen, China for thirteen (13) years. It is a wholly owned foreign enterprise incorporated and licensed for both domestic China and export sales, and serves as the Asia-Pacific regional headquarters for MEAS.

MEAS-China has over 1,700 employees engaged in the design, manufacture and sales/customer service of MEAS sensor products. The site employs over 125 engineering and technical staff, 250 degreed professionals and over 1,300 manufacturing personnel. The facility is optimally situated in a high-technology area with local access to a broad and deep employee talent pool from both Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The Hong Kong and Shenzhen airports/seaports are minutes away, providing direct links to international freight and travel routes. The facility is in TianAn Cyber Park, Futian District, a high-technology center within the Central Business District of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

MEAS-China provides development and application engineering support for MEAS’ global product portfolios in five (5) of its eight (8) product lines; manufactures almost 50% of MEAS’ global products; and develops and supports MEAS’ Asia-Pacific markets. MEAS-China has over 125,000 sq. ft. of leased space, which includes well-equipped engineering and product qualification labs.

MEAS is currently building its new Asia-Pacific headquarters in Shenzhen High-Technology Park, Nanshan District; approximately 17 km from its existing, leased facility. This new facility is owned by and designed specifically for MEAS and will provide 100% more floor space than its existing facility (total 250,000 sq. ft.). Occupancy is scheduled for 4th quarter, CY08.
