MEAS Switzerland New Products Design Phases

At MEAS Switzerland, the design of a new product is divided in 4 main phases. Each design phase is concluded by a Design Review (DR) that will verify the design and check that all documents related to the current phase are up to date.

Preparation

The first phase after perceiving the need of a new product is to asses the feasibility and concept, business objectives and to produce Advance specifications. A cost calculation is made and an agreement or contract is signed with the future customer.

Design

Preliminary Device and process specifications are further defining the functions of the product. If necessary, finite element method software such as CoventorWare(C) are used to simulate the behavior of the sensors, so as to optimize the design. Schematics and Layouts are generated based on the product specifications and the simulations.
Prequalification plan, test concepts and preliminary test specifications are established to prepare the test of the sensor.

Prototyping

The first prototypes are sent to the customer for evaluation. Device and Process specifications as well as test specifications are finalized and used to define the applicable tests. A prequalification Report is sent to the customer.

Pre-Production

After approval of the prototype, pre-series production is started. A second set of samples is sent to the customer for final approval. At the end of the pre-production, a full qualification report is established.
The stability of all specifications of our sensors are tested at MEAS Switzerland.
A non exhaustive list of the tests usually done include ageing at high temperature and humidity, ageing at low temperature, temperature cycling and pressure cycling to determine the hysteresis, testing the upper and lower limits of each specifications...

Production

The new product is mass produced and a continuous 100% quality control is performed on all the parts, including lots tracing and historical parts aging monitoring.
